I’m looking forward to this week, not just because it’s Halloween Week, but also because NC State and Florida State play this Thursday night. These two teams are looking like the front-runners for the Atlantic. Though, NC State could certainly use a big win against FSU after suffering a surprising loss to East Carolina two weeks ago. Wolfpack QB Russell Wilson operates a high-powered offense, which is currently 7th in the nation in total passing. However, the defense hasn’t looked so spectacular. ECU had its way over the Wolfpack as the Pirates racked up close to 500 total yards. At one point, NC State was down 21-0 before Russell Wilson led the Pack back and tied it up at 27-27. ECU was eventually able to squeak out a win in overtime though.
Welcome to Heartbreak…
Down in Tallahassee, FSU is off to an impressive 6-1 start. This team has had the right pieces for a couple seasons now, but Jimbo Fisher was the guy to put them all together. The Seminoles avoided a little scare two weekends ago against Boston College though. It was a game in which QB Christian Ponder threw 3 interceptions to the Eagles defense. I don’t see him repeating the same mistakes against NC State this Thursday. On paper, this game has the makings to be an offensive shoot-out. My heart always wants to go with NC State, however in my head I don’t trust the Pack defense. I worry about that potent ground game. FSU is likely the best team NC State will face yet, and If Tom O’Brien can pass this test then the sky’s the limit.
