Will a real Big 12 Contender please stand up? This preseason I was extremely high on Oklahoma due to its playmakers returning on offense. The defense only returned 5, but I never thought the lack of experience on defense would hinder the Sooners from making a serious national title run. However, with the exception of wins over Florida State and Iowa State this team has been far from dominant. Texas just looks sorry, with an ugly beating at home against UCLA and an even more pitiful loss to Iowa State. The Longhorns were 6-0 against the Cyclones before coming into this game. Nebraska looked like a serious contender however the loss to Texas didn’t help them at all. But this week, Missouri heads into Lincoln and even though the Tigers have rolled to a 7-0 start I wouldn’t be surprised if the Cornhuskers pull off the upset. Though if Mizzou can get a victory on the road this team should be able to run with it in the North. If you look at the standings in the South, Baylor…yes, Baylor is in first place. It’s still early, but what a difference a year makes. The Bears ended 2009 in last place in the South with a 1-7 record. I’m not sold on Baylor yet, but it just goes to show you how much parody exists in the Big 12 this year.
